Veggie Voyagers

Couple travelled 30 states and 3 Canadian provinces between 7/07 and 5/08 running their 1987 Ford truck on straight veggie oil. The blog continues with a focus on the natural world and energy politics from a personal perspective

Winslow

Can't get photos on the blog--

We left Jim’s in Phoenix after almost two weeks of his hospitality. The first night, after many hours of searching for and finally obtaining veggie oil on the way out of the city, we got a few miles past the last vestiges of the sprawl and camped on the Great Western Trail.
After the town of Payson, we climbed the Mogollon Rim and got our first chance this winter to ski. (I was reintroduced to how out of shape I am.) Then our northern route dropped back down to the desert and we bought 20% biodiesel for the diesel tank and spent the night in the Winslow Walmart, temperature in the single digit range, big trucks around us running their engines all night. In the morning the door to the camper was frozen shut.
