Veggie Voyagers

Couple travelled 30 states and 3 Canadian provinces between 7/07 and 5/08 running their 1987 Ford truck on straight veggie oil. The blog continues with a focus on the natural world and energy politics from a personal perspective

So I can't sleep which is unusual for me. I'm backtracking backwards through these photos. This is Wilson Lake where we spent my Bday eve. The air was rich with mosquitoes but it was a beautiful place to be regardless with the full moon rising to the left of the gap over the shallow lake. I love hearing the birds there and seeing the seasons.

On my actual birthday-same day as Emma Goldman- we skiied up from Bumpass Hell around Emerald Lake, just showing it's colors as it melts around the edges. Then we had a tough side ways gully uphill to the base of Lassen through the sun cups. Here's me in all my age and glory at the base of Mt. Lassen.
The prettiest photo was perhaps this split barn in Child's Meadow.

This is the group of fine people I've worked with for the last year and a half. The state cut our program and I'll be out of there at the end of July. I'll miss my work buddies.

And this is a picture of our wonderful Complete Self Attunement facilitator group at the end of our retreat.
I've been very lucky to have lived so many interesting segments over the last three years since I started this blog, since I last retired...

Green Gold

Our Complete Self Attunement meditation group is on summer retreat at Katy's in Durham, near Butte Creek. It's solstice and Father's Day. With lots of energy flowing.

Anything I say could be pushed up and rolled over by about a million more words in many configurations so I stay mostly quiet.

Enjoying what is around. Following intentions into the open space of meditation. Allowing the "not knowing" but feeling very powerful with the universal energy arising.

Honor thy Father and Rejoice in the day length and cool weather.

Jammin for Peace

It's not possible or desirable to stay in the same place.
I meditated. And danced and parked some cars. And looked around at the new crop of moms and the new crop of babies.

And just recognized how dear each is to me.

I wonder if the tattoos of the young women mean a stronger commitment.

The beautiful grace and tenderness of maternal love and the challenges of parenthood. How can we then let our children go to war and how can we let the planet that sustains them suffer a slow death...

I believe in the young and wait to see how they will face the challenges and plan to be with them in protecting these babies for years to come.

Good Job Jane!

On Tuesday we lost Jane Dolan as our champion for the Greenline that protects the fertile ag lands west of Chico from going under to urban uses. She was on the Board of Superiors for 32 years and just failed to campaign this year. The guy who got in has accepted huge amounts of money from developers and has tea party mentality on social issues. Yesterday I was so depressed I could barely see the oil coming in at Perdido Key...

I have to remind myself that there have been a lot of good things, as usual. The Doin It Justice Choir lifted our spirits last Sunday. This photo isn't good but this was a song about plastic bags that gave me lightness. There are MANY wonderful people in our community who also care deeply.

Another thing that happened was a huge moving bike festival of mostly young people on the weekend. Their faces were so happy when they emerged from Children's Park... this ethic and community probably did not correlate with high voter turn out but still reminds me to have hope.

Other people are organizing against the Budget Cuts in California. That battle will be intensifying over the next weeks and I fear the outcome for all who depend on social programs in the safety net.. no use bringing myself around to more worry about that at this particular minute. I'm already worried enough about our land, which the city wants to annex for high density residential housing.

Wouldn't that just be lovely?
Why would I want money when I can have the sun on new summer spikes of hollyhock in the morning light?
